WINDSOR – Funeral services for Sandra L. Place, 48, who died Sept. 17, 2010 at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center will be held Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. at Rachel S. Harlow Church followed by a reception. Friends may call today (Thursday, Sept. 23) from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.
She was born Jan. 22, 1962 in Randolph, the daughter of Harley and Betty (Dunn) Sanborn, and raised by her mother and dad Richard McKay.
She graduated from Lebanon High School. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Hartland Elementary School while attending Vermont Technical College where she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
On May 2, 1998, she married Michael Place.
Mrs. Place was employed at Windsor County Headstart and later served as director of Flying Ducks Childcare at Mount Ascutney Resort in Brownsville and then at Lake Morey Resort Daycare in Fairlee. She operated a daycare from her home for a time and, for the past 10 years, worked at Health Care and Rehabilitative Services as a crisis intervention specialist and family case manager.
She enjoyed auctions, yard sales and antiquing.
Survivors include her husband; and dad, Richard of Windsor; her father of Washington State; three sons, Aaron Thibodeau of Ascutney, Joshua Thibodeau of Claremont, N.H., and Michael Place Jr. of Windsor; four granddaughters; a sister, Virginia Yepez of Keller, Texas; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother in 2008.
