Over the weekend, nineteen families gathered at Fruitlawn Garden in Abbeyleix, Ireland, in conjunction with Shackleton Thomas of Bridgewater, to participate in the first ever international Naked Table Project event. The connection to Abbeyleix Estate and with furniture maker Pat McEvoy is an important one; one of the key tenets of the project is to bring people closer to the local economy and locally available natural resources. It is an opportunity to honor the Irish tradition of the craft of handmade furniture, and to link people to the resources that the land can provide when it is maintained in a sustainable manner.
