CVL-South 12U Cal Ripken Win Vermont State Championship

The Under 12 Cal Ripken Team boasts some big wins in recent games against Bennington and North Country teams.

The CVL-South 12 under Cal Ripken Team (Hartford, Woodstock, and Hartland) team ran the table down in Manchester Vermont beating Tri-Town All-stars 16-0, Bennington All-stars 8-0 and North Country in the Championship game 8-6.
In the first game Saturday morning against the Tri-town all-stars Jordan Allard struck out 7 batters and gave up on one hit in three innings. Brandon Chassion came on in relief in the fourth and retired the side with an unassisted double play by Hunter Perkins. Jordan also help himself out with 5 RBI with a two run double and a towering three run homerun. Jacob Perkins went 3 for 3 with a two run homer and Noah Ramos went 2-3. Tyler Hamilton hit a two run double and Austin Gaudette and Jack Wozniak went two for two.
In the second game on Saturday Hunter Perkins and Dylan Spencer pitched a two hit shutout against the Bennington All Stars. Jordan Allard hit a double scoring Jacob Perkins and Tyler Hamilton (2-3) hit in Hunter Perkins from third and an over throw allowed Jordan to score from second. Austin Gaudette (2-3) drove in two runs with a single in the fourth and scored in the fifth when Gavin Farnsworth singled in Austin and Noah Ramos (2-3) who single in Gavin. Hunter and Dylan combined to strike out 10 batters.
In the Championship game on Sunday evening Jordan Allard and Hunter Perkins combined to pitch a 5 hitter. Jacob Perkins hit a three run line drive homerun and was followed up with the next pitch by Hunter Perkins hitting a line drive opposite field homerun that curved around the foul pole. Gavin Farnsworth (2-3) scored on Noah Ramos single and Noah and Jacob scored on Jordan 2 run double to the fence in the forth. In the bottom of the fifth Jack Wozniak came in to pinch hit. The first pitch he saw he he hit a moster homerun over the centerfield fence. North Country made it interesting score four runs in the top of the fifth with the help of four errors and three walks. Jordan came back in to strike out the final two batters.
In the district and state tournament the CVL south out scored their opposition 79-6. Striking out 66 batters in 36 innings of play. The team hit a combined .565 batting average thru out both tournaments. The team combined for 12 home runs with Jacob hitting 4 homeruns, Hunter hit 3 homeruns and Jordan hit two homeruns what you want from your two, three four hitters. Noah Ramos hit .681 for both tournaments.
CVL south will travel to Regional tournaments down in Marlborough Mass July 23rd thru July 29th. There is 2 Mass. Teams, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont and new comer Bermuda.
Hunter Perkins has won 4 state Championships in a row. Three with the Ten and under team and one with 12 under team. Austin Gaudette and Tyler Hamilton have won 3 State Championships row two with 10u and 1 with the 12 under. Tyler and Austin have never lost a District or State game in the past three years of playing in Vermont. Hunter has not lost a district or State game in the past four years. Jacob Perkins has also won three state championships in the past four years. Dylan Spencer, Jack Wozniak, Austin Ellis, Emily Royce, Nate Robinson, Brandon Chassion, Gavin Farnsworth, Kyle Prior have won two Vermont state Championships.
