QUECHEE — A memorial service for Patricia M. O’Brien, 79, who died peacefully in her home on July 14, 2011 will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
She was born Oct. 20, 1931 in White Plains, N.Y., the daughter of Erastus Sherman White and Marie Elizabeth While.
Patricia grew up and spent most of her early life around New York City.
In 1954, on Memorial Day weekend, she married Garry O’Brien in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
She loved traveling and did so extensively around the globe, leaving her mark everywhere she visited and lived. After settling in Quechee in 1984, she began working in the personnel office of the Woodstock Inn, where she stayed until her retirement in 1999.
Patricia was an avid supporter of Vermont’s wildlife. She also enjoyed playing bridge and majhong, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Garry O’Brien and his wife, Jessica and two children, Alexeya and Nathaniel, all of Natick, Mass.; a daughter, Christine O’Brien of Frisco, Texas, and a sister, BJ Cruit of Reston, Va.
She was predeceased by her husband, Garry in 1997.
