**Breaking News** Motorcycle Accident In Reading

READING – A motorcyclist suffered a “severe” head injury in a collision with a car in Reading late Tuesday evening, but still managed to get back on his bike and drive for miles in search of medical help, according to state police.
The unidentified motorcyclist in his mid-20s reportedly made it clear to Ludlow, arriving shortly after 11 p.m., where he met up with a Ludlow ambulance crew who determined that his head injuries were serious enough to warrant his being airlifted for advanced treatment.
The ambulance crew transported the victim to Springfield Hospital where the DHART medical helicopter was preparing to fly him back to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Reading has been one of the hardest-hit communities over the past 72 hours since Hurricane Irene swept through the region and severed many of the town’s roads, although VTrans crews are hoping to have Route 106 open to at least emergency traffic by sometime on Wednesday.
