**Breaking News**Sharon Woman Accused Of Swindling Grandmother

Vermont State Police have reported that a Sharon woman was the victim of a kidnapping hoax last evening.
Patricia Swanson of Sharon told police she received a call from an unknown man stating that he had her granddaughter, Megan Swanson, and was asking for $600 in fifteen minutes, or, he threatened, she would never see Megan again. The elder Swanson told the caller she could not get the money and the caller then threatened to come to her home and kill her. Swanson called VSP who watched in unmarked cruisers as they had her drop the money off and as a car pulled up to pick it up. Police conducted a felony traffic stop and found that Megan Swanson, Kevin Emery Jr and Joshua Rice were inside.
Police report that the trio were looking to scam Patricia Swanson out of money to pay some outstanding drug debts. Megan Swanson and Rice were charged with extortion, and Emery was charged with aiding the the commission of a felony.
