PARSONS, KS — Following cremation, memorial services for Christopher T. “Chris” Astbury, 62, who died Feb. 14, 2012 at his home were held Feb. 18 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
He was born July 31, 1949 in Bridgewater, son of Charles and Blanche R. (Westcott) Asbtury.
He grew up in Vermont where he attended schools and was a 1968 graduate of Woodstock Union High School. He later attended Emporia State University where he earned an Associate degree.
Through the years he worked as a custom harvester and later a licensed practical nurse at he Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, retiring Nov. 1, 2011.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Parsons and the Chief Black Dog’s Trail Muzzle loading Club. He enjoyed gardening, building and tending to koi ponds, black powder rifles, animals, and helping others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and participating in muzzleloader rendezvous.
He and Teresa (Lewis) Anderson were married Jan. 7, 2009 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Matt Asbury and wife, Sarah Lowell, Or., and Michael Anderson Parsons, KS; one daughter, Christy Thornton and husband, Michael of Springfield, Or; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Asbury of Bridgewater; Nick Asbury of Lady Lake, Fla. And Ted Astbury of Denver, Co.
He was predeceased by one brother; and one sister.
