A Mass of Christian burial for John V. Lahey Jr., 67, a long time resident of Woodstock, who died on June 4, 2012 in Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City, will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY at 10 am on Saturday, June 9. Visitation will be from 5 pm on Friday, June 8. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
John was born in Newburgh, New York on April 2, 1945, the son of John V. Lahey Sr. and Helen Fogarty Lahey of New Windsor, New York.
He was Founder and CEO of Fine Paints of Europe on Route 4 in Woodstock.
John is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Ullyot, her husband Ted and their children Ben, Ted and Madeleine of Hillsborough, California; and by one son John Lahey III and his wife Jayne of Port Washington, New York; two sisters Mary Jane Dybas of Libertyville Illinois, and Anne Kehl and her husband Phil of Short Hills, New Jersey; and by nieces and nephews.
After holding management positions in the winery business in New York, John started and built Fine Paints of Europe, importing high quality paint from France and then from Holland. John and Fine Paints moved from Blooming Grove, NY to Route 4 in Woodstock in the early 1990s.
John will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and good friend, for his tenacious pursuit of excellence in his business, his enjoyment of life, and his generosity.
