WHITE RIVER JCT. — Funeral service for Carol G. Sears, 75, who died at her home on June 24 surrounded by her family, were held June 29 at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford Village. Burial will be private.
She was born in Sharon on June 20, 1937, the eldest child of Carroll S. and Marion (Whitcomb) George.
She was raised in West Hartford, and graduated form Hartford High School, Class of 1955.
She was married to Allston J. Sears on Sept. 3, 1955 in Quechee. They lived in White River and West Hartford.
She was a homemaker; a job at which she excelled. She worked for Sugarbush Farms and as a rural route mail carrier. She also worked at Dartmouth College until her retirement in 1998.
She enjoyed her cat, “Baby Cat,” camping, cooking, ice cream and reading but, most of all, she treasured time spent with her family. She was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and aunt.
She is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Janet of Sharon, Donald and his wife Peggy of Tunbridge; one daughter, Sandra Daigle and her husband, Roy of Wilder; two cherished grandsons, Ben Sears and his wife, Karoline of Bennington and Logan Sears of Westminster and Sharon; three step-granddaughters, Amanda, Carmen and Katrina; a brother, Daniel George of Wilder; a sister, Carlean Follett, of Wilder; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband on March 12, 1999; a brother, David on Dec. 3, 1990; and her mother and father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, N.H. 03748.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct.
