TAFTSVILLE — Services will be held privately for at Sugar Hill Farm in Woodstock for Harry Dana Maynard, Jr. died at his home in Taftsville on July 4. A private burial service will follow in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph.
He was born on March 29, 1930 in New Bedford, Massachusetts , the son of Harry, Sr. and Thelma ( LaVoie) Maynard.
Harry was passionate about flying and continued to fly glider planes until the age of 80. He was an avid reader, and as a lover of the outdoors spend much of his time hiking, fishing and downhill skiing. Harry was a volunteer at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and a member of the New England Chapter of the Soaring Society of America.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin M. Lombard of Woodstock, Vermont, a son Robert D. Maynard of Taftsville, four grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a sister Marilyn L. Gamage of Barnard.
Memorial donations may be made to the Norman William Library, 10 The Green, Woodstock, Vermont 05091
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
