A Celebration of Life, for Doris Lewis Frizzell, 83, who passed away August 27 at her home in Woodstock, will be held Saturday, September 15th, at 1 p.m. with a potluck meal, at the Frizzell residence, 3480 Hartland Hill Rd. in Woodstock.
She was born September 13, 1928, at home in Prosper, VT, the daughter of Carl S. and Mildred (Combie) Lewis.
Doris graduated from Woodstock High School in 1946.
She was married to Philip A. Frizzell, Sr. on September 4, 1948 at the Unitarian Church in Woodstock.
She worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Boston from 1948 until 1950. The Frizzells had lived on Hartland Hill for 60 years. Doris devoted her life to her family and volunteer work; some of which were; Prosper Homemakers, VNA, Kings Daughters, St. James Episcopal Church Alter Guild, Cub Scouts and the Woodstock Historical Society. Doris and Phil enjoyed the many years of Sugar House Swingers as officers and members. They met many friends square dancing and continued their friendships with them for many years.
Her special interests included gardening, knitting, sewing and jigsaw puzzles. Anyone who ever enjoyed her company will miss her. Doris is happy to be with Phil and busy with her flowers again. Her family wishes to offer a special “thanks” to her caregivers over the summer, Jody Pindt, Rhonda White and Bayada Hospice.
She is survived by her children; Philip and Barbara Frizzell, Jr. of Bethel, Bruce and Juanita Frizzell of Reading, Virginia and Jeffrey Couture of Hinesburg, Alan and Joyce Frizzell of Stratford, NH and Nancy Frizzell of Woodstock, a sister Emily Hawkes of Woodstock, her twin brother Donald Lewis of Goode, VA, her grandchildren; P. Thomas Frizzell, Matthew O. Frizzell, Katherine Frizzell, Leigh Couture, Taryn Doris Couture, Austin Frizzell and Sarah Frizzell and her great-grandchildren; Matthew R. Frizzell and Madison Jarvis.
