THOMPSON, Conn. — Funeral services for George E. Becker, 82, who died July 27 in his home surrounded by his family will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home in Putnam, Conn. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George’s family from 4-6 p.m. before service.
He was the loving husband of Frances Becker for 53 years. Born in North Calis, the son of the late George and Maude (Landry) Becker;
Mrs. Becker was a Korean War veteran where he received a Purple Heart for his service. He worked as an extruder for Danco for 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and visiting casinos. An avid sports fan, he loved to watch the UConn Women’s Huskies. He was a member of the Albert J. Breault VFW Post.
George is survived by his sons, George Becker and his wife, Debbie of Thompson and Michael Becker and his wife, Gloria of Putnam; his daughters, Sandra Ouellette and her husband, mark of Putnam, Conn., and Katherine Becker of Pittsboro, N.C.; his sisters, Verna Fletcher of South Royalton and Nellie Becker of Vershire; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one daughter, the late Mary Ann Becker.
