BENNINGTON — A funeral Mass for Joan d’Arc Eckert, 97, formerly of South Royalton and Quechee, who died July 25 at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington was held July 28 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon.
She was born in Waterloo, Quebec, Canada on Dec. 28, 1914, the daughter of Armand C. and Jeanne d’Arc (Coutu Sylvester.
She attended local schools.
She married Clifford Eckert in Newark, N.J. on Sept. 19, 1937. Mr. Eckert died in 1998.
In earlier years, Mrs. Eckert worked as a beautician in New Jersey.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Sharon.
She enjoyed reading and writing.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Keyler of Sharon, Manon McMullin of Palm Coast, Fla., and Claudette Werner of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Eckert was predeceased by a son, Jerry Oord; and two brothers, Roger and Robert Sylvester.
