NEBO, N.C. — Memorial service for Robert H. “Bob” Woods, 775, who died at his residence on Aug. 21, with his loving family by his side, were held Aug. 25 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Marion, N.C.
He was born in Boston, Mass., on March 20, 1937, son of the late Russell and Jean Rambo Woods.
Bob grew up in Bridgewater Corners.
He retired from The McDowell Hospital as a respiratory therapist in April of 2011, a profession that he practiced and taught for over 40 years. Bob had the honor of operating the first heart/lung machine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, N.H.
But Bob’s true passion in life was the work he did as a minister and Elder in the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a work that he was a part of for over 36 years. All will remember Bob for the love and personal care and concern he showed to them.
Surviving are his wife, Janice W. Woods; children, Troy Woods and wife, Patty of Houston, Texas, Tina Leighton and husband, Jim of Athol, Mass., Lindsey Austin and husband, Bob of Asheville, N.C., Kim Burton and husband, Buck of Mt. Holly and Jody Putnam and wife, Cynthia of Frisco, Texas; three brothers, Bill Woods and wife, Jeannette of Haines City, Fla., David Woods and wife, Linda of Bonney Lake, Wash., and John Woods and wife, Nancy of Cleveland, Minn.; two sisters, Bette Anne Sailer of Plymouth and Wanda Morgan of Bridgewater Corners; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory handled arrangements.
