ABINGTON, Mass. — The family will hold a private funeral and burial for Irene M. Wilson, 92, who died Sept. 9 at Colony House in Abington, Mass.
She was raised in East Barnard and Hanover, N.H.
She graduated from eighth grade from a one-room elementary school in East Barnard and graduated from Hanover High School in 1937.
Irene worked in Bath, Maine in 1938 and attended an adult education course in business at night. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston in 1943.
Irene and Richard H. Wilson, also of Hanover, N.H., had been friends since age seven and in 1942 were married.
After WWII in 1945, they lived in Paris, Texas to discharge the men and to close Camp Maxey. Afterwards, they lived in Fall River and Milton, Mass., and moved to Norwell, Mass. in 1939. Mrs. Wilson worked at Ginn and Co. (textbook publishing,) then later near home at Reliable Fence and Whitcher Auto Appraisals until 1988, and then was home to raise her granddaughters.
She is survived by a sister, Lois Moore of Sharon; a son, Bradford of Norwell, Mass.; a daughter, Marcia of Florida; and two granddaughters, Mary and Melissa and their families, including three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson is also survived by many cousins (they call reunions Cousin Congregations) and also many nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews.
Irene was predeceased by her husband; parents; two sisters; and a brother.
