WILDER — A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie E. Thurston, 78, who died Sept. 18 at her home surrounded by her family, was held Sept. 25 at St. Anthony’s Church in White River Jct. Burial followed in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Hartford, a daughter of Roy and Lena (Minard) Pecor.
Marie grew up and attended school in Hartford.
She was later married to Oliver Thurston on Aug. 3, 1951 in White River Junction and they lived in Rockingham for several years.
While in Rockingham, Marie worked for some time at Blake Whitney before she decided to start a family of her own. In 1974, they built a home in Wilder where they spent the rest of their lives together, until Oliver passed away on March 21 of this year.
Marie enjoyed crafting, especially jewelry. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time outdoors, which involved camping and gardening. But most of all she enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Thurston of Wilder and James Thurston of Barre; two daughters-in-law, Faith Wills of Hartland and Barbra Thurston of Barre; grandchildren, Elizabeth Thurston and Jacquelyn Thurston of White River Junction; her great-grandchildren, Ryan and James; a sister, Beverly J. Metcalf of Lebanon, N.H., and several nieces and nephews.
