According to a report released by the state Department of Labor Friday, Vermont’s unemployment rate has moved up a bit for the third month in a row, to reach 5.3 percent.
The national average unemployment rate is 8.1 percent.
Annie M. Noonan, Vermont’s Commissioner of the Department of Labor, said in a statement Friday that “while the rate increased this month, Vermont continues to hold the lowest unemployment rate in the northeast region, and still has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation, positioned at fifth lowest.”
