Madeline Jaquith, 105, passed away 26 days prior to her 106th birthday, which would have been Oct. 31, 2012.
A memorial service for Madeline Jaquith who passed away at the Mertens House on Friday Oct 5, will be held at Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday Oct 12 at 2:00 P.M. Madeline was born in Hartland Four Corners, Vt. on October 31, 1906 the daughter of Ord and Belle (Crosby) Watson. She attended grade school in Hartland and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1924. In 1926 she attended Bay Path Business College in Springfield, Ma. Madeline married Valmar Jaquith in 1933. They lived in Quechee and while there she worked as secretary at Deweys Mills for 22 years. Because of her husband’s poor health they moved to Dunedin, Florida where she worked as bookkeeper at Sun Trust Bank for 17 years. After her husband’s death in 1979 she came back to Woodstock each summer and in August of 2003 she moved into the Homestead and in May of 2010 she moved into the Mertens House.
She was a wonderfully happy and cheerful lady who will be greatly missed by all. She especially looked forward to the Alumni Parade in June each year. She was also an avid Red Sox Fan. She leaves a niece, Marilyn Sutherland of Woodstock, Vt. and a nephew, Stanley Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 44 years, a brother Milton Watson and two sisters, Myrtle Lord and Marbara Bagley.
