RANDOLPH — Memorial services for Robert W. Green, 89, who died Oct. 1 at his home will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at the Bethany United Church of Christ. Rev. Jonathan New, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 4) at the Day Funeral Home with Masonic Ritual at 7:30 p.m.
He was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Trumbull, CT; the son of James H. and Zelia (Trask) Green.
He was raised in Strafford, CT and graduated from Woodbury, CT High School. Robert had lived in Randolph since 1962, and was married to Nellie May Spencer then Shirley Poulin, both of whom predeceased him.
Robert had worked as plant manager for Waterbury Companies for over 40 years, and had been a member of the Twilight Golf League. He was a member of the Mystic Star Masonic Lodge #97, Bethany Church, Randolph Rotary Club, and was a volunteer fireman for Hotchkissville, CT Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, gardening, and playing the fiddle and guitar, which inspired his sons to continue the tradition. He was instrumental in the building of the Randolph Skating Rink.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith A. Voghell and husband, Florian of Hartland Four Corners, Susan M. Green of Randolph; two sons, Robert F. Green and wife, Betsy Shuey of Burlington, and Jim Green and wife, Donna of Braintree; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his 11 brothers and sisters.
