Two Rutland men were arrested Thursday for the August break-in of Green Mountain National Golf Course.

Robert Withington, 41, and Vincent Reynolds, 24, allegedly broke through a window Aug. 12 at the course and stole a weekend’s worth of restaurant revenue and the cash drawer from the pro shop — a loss of more than $4,000.

Reynolds was a former employee, a seasonal maintenance staff member, who was fired in August for poor performance and failure to show up to work on time, according to Town Manager Seth Webb. The Town of Killington oversees the operations of the golf course and restaurant.

Since the incident, staff at the course have installed a safe, cameras and instituted nightly deposits.

“I credit the state police for their good work,” Webb said.
