Beverly J Lewis passed away peacefully on Nov. 17 at her home. There will be a memorial service held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the North Universalist Chapel Society in Woodstock.
She grew up on the Hill farm in South Barnard, Vermont, daughter of Olin and Nellie Hill. She went to school in South Barnard and graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1960. Her career as a secretary began at the Veterans Admin. Hospital in White River Junction.
She and James Lewis were married in 1961 in Woodstock. Beverly and James started a family and shared in managing the farm when they took over the Fox Valley Farm in 1977. In 1981 she started at the Woodstock High School as a secretary and then as the Administrative Assistant, a position she held until her retirement in 2012.
She liked visiting childhood friends in Florida, loved her family and grandchildren, and spending time by their pool. She and Jim also loved to square dance. She was a member of the Prosper Homemakers, the Sugar House Swingers and the Alumni Association. She had many friends and was always active in support of friends and community.
She will be remembered by thousands of students and staff who passed through the Woodstock Union High School through the years in which she worked there.
Bev’s family would like to thank everyone who gave support and visited. Bev was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Hubbard and Dorothy Washburn. She is survived by her husband James, one older sister, Norma Bradley of Barnard and Florida, Son Jeff and wife Anna, son Scott and wife Stephanie, daughter Lisa and husband Todd, six grandchildren: Heather, Kimberley, Adam, Brian, Jessica and Bradley and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to “Zack’s Place” 73 Central St. Woodstock or Prosper Community Club (attn.: Martha Leonard) P.O. Box 54 Woodstock. Everyone is invited to a reception held at the Prosper Community House immediately after the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cabot Funeral Home.

Bev was a wonderful woman. I’ll always remember her kind heart, her dedication to WUHS, and her love of Vermont. I have a picture of Bev with my daughter Jenny in the barn that I will always cherish.
    We will all miss you.
