The east end building that once housed Gerrish Honda is coming down.
The long-vacant structure was being demolished Monday and work could be completed by Tuesday, according to attorney Nick Burke, who has been handling the cleanup and has an option to purchase the property.
Earlier this year, petroleum contaminants were removed from the soil, according to Burke, who hopes the demolition will make the site more attractive for potential buyers.
Burke is now working with the state Division for Historic Preservation to find a solution for the stone house on the property. The roof on the stone house caved in a couple of months ago.
