State police have arrested a Tunbridge man for an armed robbery of the Rite Aid pharmacy in Bethel.

George Akroyd, 22, allegedly entered the pharmacy on Oct. 30 and handed the pharmacist a note saying he was armed and demanding prescription drugs. Akroyd then fled into the woods behind the pharmacy, police said.

Police tracked down Akroyd because someone fitting his description was seen coming out of a dark-colored sedan at a nearby convenience store.

Akroyd is being held at Strafford County jail in Dover, N.H. He is scheduled to be extradited Monday and face a charge of assault and robbery in Wondsor County Court.
