Governor Peter Shumlin was elected today as the chair of the Democratic Governors Association, a role which is anticipated to raise his national profile.
Shumlin said of the appointment, “I am honored that my colleagues have given me the opportunity to chair the Democratic Governors Association. The DGA is an important partner for Democratic governors across the country, and I hope to deepen that partnership in my time as chair. My role as DGA chair is also good for Vermont: we have a great story to tell the rest of the nation, and stand to benefit from the collaboration with other states and other governors that this opportunity represents. I look forward to this exciting challenge.”
