WASILLA, Ala. — Forrest Vaughn Dow of Wasilla and formally of West Hartford died Dec. 25, 2012 at Providence, Alaska Medical Center.
Forrest was born June 9, 1941 in Newport, son of Carlton Wilder Dow and Jessie Elizabeth (Parker) Dow.
He graduated form Hartford High School in 1958 and then served four years in the United States Navy.
Forrest settled in the San Jose, Calif. Area after leaving the Navy and worked for many years in heavy construction including working on the Alaskan Pipeline.
In 1977, Forrest moved to Wasilla where he established and ran Dow Welding.
Locally Forrest leaves behind brothers, Jim Dow and Bill Dow; sisters, Katherine Watts and Janet Spear, all from the Quechee, West Hartford area. Forrest also leaves behind his widow, Sheila Tallman Dow of Wasilla; sons, Kevin Dow of the Philippine Islands and C. Robert Dow of San Rafel, Calf; and sisters, Karyn Clark of Concord, N.H. and Colleen Fidler of Palmer, Alaska. He also leaves brothers, Harold Dow of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., Jon Dow of Shuarita, Ariz.; and sister, Mary Jane Dow of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Forrest was predeceased by his father, mother and stepmother, Mary Dow.
