Longtime Woodstock Field Hockey Coach Retiring

After 30 years of coaching, Woodstock Union field hockey’s Wendy Wannop is retiring.

Athletic Director Jeff Thomas announced Wannop’s retirement by email Tuesday. Wannop won three state championships and amassed a record of 198-74-16 as a varsity coach.

She coached at the middle school for 10 years, before taking over for Yvonne Frates.

It was a honor to have Wendy as coach for both our daughters. She taught them much more than the game of field hockey. The Maynes family send good wishes to Wendy . We have a feeling she will be happily busy with grandchildren !
