CLAREMONT, N.H. — A funeral service for Merna L. Sprague, 78, who died Jan. 9 at Elm Wood Center in Claremont, N.H., was held Jan. 13 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Burial will be in the Prosper Cemetery in the spring.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1934 in Bridgewater, daughter of Carlton L. and Bernice (Severance) Demary.
Merna attended school and spent most of her youth in Cavendish and Proctorsville.
She later lived in the Upper Valley for a time where she worked as a waitress at various restaurants including Howard Johnson’s in White River Jct., as well as a receptionist at P&C Cross Company warehouse for many years. She has lived in Claremont for the past 26 years where she worked at Hannaford’s and Wal-Mart until retiring.
Merna was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family. She will be especially remembered for the beautiful meals she prepared. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she loved teaching them and passing on her homemaking skills. Merna was also known for her green thumb and loved gardening, particularly her flower gardens.
Survivors include her children, Donald Snow of North Hartland, Bruce Snow and his wife, Linda of White River Jct., Colleen Davis and her husband, Fred of White River Jct. and Mark Adams of Charlestown, N.H.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Conrad Demary of White River Jct. and Gordon Demary of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Brenda Hosmer of Randolph Center; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Janet Churchill; and a brother, Donald Severance.
