HARTLAND — Committal services will be held in the spring in the family lot in the West Lebanon Cemetery for Robert E. Guillette, 82, a longtime resident of Hartland, who passed away Jan. 28 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born Aug. 10, 1930 in Graniteville, the son of Emile and Edith (Murray) Guillette.
He received his schooling in Graniteville and Barre where he graduated from Spaulding High School in 1948.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a medic in the US Air Force. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1954.
Robert married Marjorie E. Downing in Hartland on April 7, 1962.
Mr. Guillette was employed at the former Vermont Heel Factory in Wilder for five years and later was employed at Split Ball Bearing and Timken in Lebanon, for many years until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Hartland Four Corners and had volunteered at suppers at the church and at the Hartland Congregational Church. He also volunteered at the Hartland Food Bank for several years. He was a member of the Hartland Historical Society and had served as Chairman of the Hartland Old Home Day Celebration. He enjoyed attending and was a supporter of the Windsor, VT and Lebanon, NH athletic programs. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Bob was also a very active member of the Senior Golf League at Carter Country Club in Lebanon. He was fond of attending lunches at different senior groups throughout the Upper Valley, especially, Wednesday morning coffee hour at the Windsor Diner and Senior Golf breakfasts on Tuesdays. He collected letter openers and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Guillette and his wife, Julie of Canaan, NH, one grandson, Daniel Guillette of Lebanon and one great grandson, Gabriel Guillette, three brothers, his twin brother, Albert Guillette and his wife, Janet of West Lebanon, NH, Russell Guillette and his wife Elisa of El Paso, Texas, and Merile Guillette and his wife, Fran of Barre, VT, one sister, Sally Benoit and her husband, Raymond of Groveton, NH, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Guillette passed away on January 25, 1994. He was also predeceased by his parents and one brother Alfred Guillette of Milford, NH.
