C. Everett Koop, who served as surgeon general from 1981-89 under President Ronald Reagan, died Monday at his home in New Hampshire, according to a release from Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. He was 96. Koop was the founder of the C. Everett Koop Institute at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine and a 1937 graduate of Dartmouth.
