Randolph police say that a Randolph man was run over and killed at a Cumberland Farms parking lot Tuesday after lying down in front of a tanker truck.
Video of parking lot surveillance and a statement by a witness confirmed that Peter Maraget, 51, waited until the driver of the truck entered the store and then laid down in front of the passenger-side rear wheels. The driver checked his mirrors and pulled forward, and then stopped in about 15 feet as he realized the truck went over something.
Randolph Fire Department first responders administered CPR on Maraget and he was transported to Gifford Medical Center where be was pronounced dead.
Cause of death is pending autopsy results, and the state’s attorney’s office is reviewing the case.
The State Department of Motor Vehicles inspected the truck and found nothing irregular that might have contributed to the accident.
