The Vermont Department of Public Safety has announced the implementation of a new system as part of their their sex offender registry database and website.
The system was created by the Vermont Criminal Information Center with a $150,000 grant for software after errors in the database were brought to light in the summer of 2010. The new system is called Offender Watch, and updates information in real time, whereas the old system took 24 hours to update. Users of the site can sign up to receive email alerts when offenders register in particular towns.
