‘Sugar Tax’ Bill Killed In House

A Vermont House committee Friday killed a bill that would place a tax on sugary beverages sold in the state, with a tie 5-5 vote.
The tax would have added a penny per ounce tax to sugar-sweetened drinks, to be used toward state health care costs.
