ARCADIA, Fla., – A service for Vera Dickinson, 83, who passed away suddenly on Jan. 28 will be held at the Rachael S Harlow United Methodist Church 165 Main Street, Windsor on Sun. Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. Also a celebration of life will be held in June at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph.
Vera was born Nov. 25, 1929 in East Barnard, daughter of Harold and Merle Potwin.
She married Frank “Dick” Dickinson April 10, 1947. She managed her husband’s construction business and pursued her dream in a culinary career. In 1972 they purchased a home in Arcadia Fl. where they eventually retired. They spent their summers in Sharon.
Vera was a very friendly compassionate woman who always stood up for the underdog. Many people came to her for her good common sense approach to problem solving. She always showed up at gatherings with freshly baked pies or cakes. She will missed by her many friends and family.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Lenoura “Lenny” and husband Ron Vezina of Windsor; a son Paul Dickinson, of Barnard; three grandchildren, Michele, her husband Chris Shepherd of Windsor, Malisa, her husband Shawn Williams of Brownsville and Renee her husband Geoff Falconer of Huntington; five great-grand children, Caitlyn and Simon Shepherd of Windsor, Nathaniel and Ashley Williams of Brownsville, and Jeffrey Falconer of Huntington; one sister Ramona Davenport of Halifax Mass.; one brother, Romaine Potwin of Barnard; many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Nancy Richmond Arcadia Fl.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Frank; son Richard; seven brothers, Nelson, Gerald, Harold, Vincent, Roger, Robert and Louis Potwin and five sisters, Catherine Baker, Rita Bumps, Louise Fisher, Marjorie Jones and Barbara Rhodes.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
