TUNBRIDGE — A graveside service will be held at a later date this spring in the Village Cemetery in Tunbridge for June M. Wight, 64, who died Feb. 24 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. after a period of failing health.
She was born June 12, 1948, in Barre, the daughter of Minnie A. (Russ) and George F. Wight, Jr.
She lived all her life in Tunbridge.
She attended school in Tunbridge and graduated in 1966 from South Royalton High School. June was a hard worker all her life and a very good seamstress.
She started her working career at the Granite Glove Corporation in South Royalton, and then worked 28 years at Merrimaids in Randolph, Chelsea and South Barre offices, followed by six years at Anichini Inc. in Tunbridge and five years at H.E.B. Manufacturing Co. in Chelsea before retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed dancing at Dreamland Dance Hall when she was younger, attending town team softball games, sewing, and her cat, “Tiger” and taking care of her great grandson, J.J.
Survivors include her son, Laurence Wight and his wife, Kim of Tunbridge; a brother, Roy Wight and his wife, Nancy of South Royalton; a sister, Carol Wight of Tunbridge; a granddaughter, Kayleigh Munyon; and a great grandson, J.J. Turkvan, both of South Royalton; a special cousin and friend, Laura Dyer of Tunbridge; an uncle, Albert Wight and his wife, Chris of Rye, Colo; a great nephew, George Kelley of Bethel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; three uncles, Ted Wight, Arthur Russ and Hiram Russ; and an aunt, Helen Sargent.
