The twenty-five residents of Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center’s Skilled Nursing Facility will be relocated to a new home by September 1, as the facility will close by then.
The hospital cites recent Medicare cuts, along with a three percent revenue growth cap set by the Green Mountain Care Board, for the decision.
In a statement, CEO Kevin Donovan said, “The care we provide is unsurpassed, but our rehabilitation facilities are lagging,” explained Donovan. “By closing the skilled nursing facility, we will be able to renovate our rehabilitation unit, strengthen this unique program and ultimately improve the health of our community.”
