So we part-time residents are to be hit again with a tax increase? How and when do we have an opportunity to voice our concerns? If one resides in the village 5 months a year, one is nonetheless a second-rate citizen and then also without a vote. I am especially interested in the school rate. The Woodstock schools are losing school population, though the number of sports programs persists, and per capita spending is higher than most states, if not the highest. And judging by the life choices of graduating seniors in your annual senior class focus, most of them plan to leave Vermont. But of course leaving Vermont is an inherited trait, going back many decades. Those of us with roots inVermont--for several centuries, in our case, but considered non-residents--such a tragedy in the making needs some fairly substantial discussion.
