Alice and Percy lived in Springfield, Chester and Bridgewater Corners, Vermont before moving to White River Junction in 1962 where they made their home for 42 years. Alice worked in the Business Manager’s Office at Dartmouth College until she retired in 1980. After retirement, Alice and Percy spent many winters with Millicent and Lawrence in California, and in their second home in St. Petersburg, Florida. She and Percy attended the Suncoast Cathedral in St. Petersburg, FL while they wintered there. They were both spiritual parents to a number of Dartmouth students who referred to them as “Mama and Papa Woods.”
Alice and Percy loved the outdoors and were both avid fishermen and hunters, and competed in archery meets. Alice once caught a 6 ½ pound rainbow trout that won the prize that year at the Springfield Rod & Gun Club. The family also has fond memories of “Alice’s Homemade Doughnuts” which once were sold at the Corners Store in Bridgewater Corners. After her retirement from Dartmouth College, Alice took some classes in oil painting. A number of her paintings hang in the homes of her children. One of her paintings won a prize at the Sandwich New Hampshire Fair.
