A half-acre brush fire threatened a few buildings in Taftsville before firefighters extinguished it Monday afternoon.

Hartford, Hartland and Woodstock fire departments put out the small brush fire off of Hartwood Way, a short gravel road that runs in front of the Applebutter Inn, up on a hill behind the Taftsville Country Store.

The call for the fire came in around 1:15 p.m. Firefighters had it under control by 2 p.m. thanks to Hartwood Way, which stopped the fire from spreading, according to Woodstock Assistant Fire Chief David Roy.
