WHITE RIVER JCT. — A celebration of life for Ruby Sprang, 55, who died March 29 after a long battle with cancer will be held Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. at the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms. Visiting hours will be held today (Thursday), April 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. All are welcome.
Ruby was born Sept. 8, 1957 in Spokane, Wash., daughter of Peter and Doris (Hackenberg) Sprang.
She graduated from Hartford High School in 1975 and later from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts.
After college Ruby enjoyed traveling both throughout the United States and around the world, including time in Japan and Germany.
Ruby has worked at the Quechee Inn for over 20 years.
She had a love for animals and creatures of all kinds, especially cats. She also enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Bugbee Senior Center in White River Jct. She was a talented artist who mostly worked in pen and ink and had several art shows at the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms.
Survivors include her parents, Peter and Doris Sprang of White River Jct; two sisters, Miranda Sprang of White River Jct. and Jean Sprang of Winona, Minn; a brother, Michael Sprang and his wife, Cheryl of West Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
