Suspicious Letter Found At Rep. Welch’s Office Monday

A suspicious letter was delivered to Rep. Peter Welch’s office Monday morning, according to a report from the Burlington Free Press.

Police and the Vermont Hazardous Materials Response Team roped off the downtown Burlington office complex around noon. Burlington Police Chief Mike Schirling said the letter was addressed to Welch, the Free Press said.

Welch was scheduled to be in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey this week. He left Sunday.
