Observed on the first Saturday of May, Green Up Day is a statewide effort in Vermont to clean up roadside trash. Find your towns locations and times to help clean up your community.

Woodstock - Meet at 8:00am in front of the Woodstock Town Hall for assignments and to pick up bags. A group photo will be taken at 8:15 a.m. Litter that is retrieved should be dropped off at the Town Garage in West Woodstock (not at the jungle as in past years) where there will be refreshments. NWPL hosts a shredding event in the parking lot behind the library from 9 until Noon. Computer hard drives can also be brought and will be completely dismembered. Boy Scout Troop 220 Bottle Drive, from 9 – Noon at the Jungle. Bring your Vermont recyclable bottles!

Plymouth – Municipal Building at 8 a.m., sign in, pickup free green-up t-shirt/hat, chartreuse safety vest, drinking water bottle and trash bags. Wear, long pants, gloves, a hat, and good sturdy shoes. Pickup trucks are needed. Bring a dish to share for the potluck lunch at noon.

Bridgewater- Plans are to finish Irene cleanup and the yearly general cleanup. Meet at the town office parking lot at 8 a.m. To start earlier, bags will be available at the Town Clerks office during regular hours.

Reading - From 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the school. Please bring work gloves, a water bottle, tools, if desired and good energy. Refreshments will be provided.

Hartland - Bags may be picked up at Damon Hall prior to Saturday or at 8 a.m. at 3 Corners Fire Station. Free lunch at 11:30 at Damon Hall. Return full bags to Fire Station.


Barnard - Bags and voucher for muffin/coffee at Barnard General Store after 8 a.m. Bring full bags to recycling center or the dump trailer at the BGS.

West Windsor - Bags available at Town Office or at Albert Bridge School. Drop full bags off at School, 8:30 a.m. -3 p.m.

Killington – Please see the Town Clerk to get your bag and sign up to green up one of our many miles of road. Free cookout at the Killington Fire and Rescue Headquarters on Killington Road from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.

Pomfret - The trash collection point and bag pick up will be located at the town garage. Get y our trash bags and pick out a section of the town’s roads to clean-up. The collection point will be staffed from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Windsor - Meet at Fire Station at 8:30am for bags and routes. Drop off Full bags at Town Garage by 1pm or leave along roadside. Bagels, juice, coffee before; Burgers, dogs and drinks after.

Sharon - Activities at the Sharon School. Bags available at Town Office. Drop off at Town Garage 8-4 p.m. Food provided by the Girl Scouts. Potluck at the end of the day.

The transfer station accepts leaves, grass clippings, brush and branches that are no more than 4 inches in diameter. Yard waste may be left in paper bags. All other containers including plastic bags must be emptied.
