BRAINTREE — Graveside memorial services for Michael A. Durkee, 61, who died May 7 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, will be held Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, West Braintree. Pastor Brad Keller will officiate. There are no calling hours.
He was born Oct. 29, 1951 in Randolph, the son of Arnold “Bunk” and Aleen (Prior) Durkee.
Michael attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph Union High School in 1969. Following his education he worked at the P&C grocery store in Randolph for 10 years before going to work at Vermont Castings in Randolph in 1979.
Michael was married to Joan Radosti on Dec. 8, 2012 in Braintree.
He enjoyed racing snowmobiles, go-karts and riding motorcycles. Michael also enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to Thunder Road and riding his motorcycle in charity bike rides.
He is survived by his parents “Bunk” and Aleen Durkee of Rochester Hollow; his wife Joan Durkee of Braintree; two daughters; Wendy Bilbrey and Heather Durkee, both of Northfield Falls; a stepson Burton Spooner, III of E. Montpelier, two stepdaughters; Kimberly Post of Bethel and Robin Morgan of South Royalton; two sisters; Linda Durkee of Northfield and Sandy Giornazi of Aurora, Colo; and eight grandchildren.
