A 40-year-old Woodstock woman was killed in an accident on Route 4 in Taftsville on Thursday, according to the Hartford Police Department.
Patience Hutt was killed after her station wagon traveling westbound on Route 4 crashed into a tractor-trailer heading east around 4 p.m. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 44-year-old Billy Surles of Howe, Tex., was not injured. The cause of the accident was still under investigation as of Thursday night.
Another vehicle, a rental car driven by two French tourists, was clipped by the tractor-trailer. The two were not injured.
A medical examiner and the state police were still reconstructing the accident around 5:30 p.m. Police say the station wagon was pushed nearly 50 yards before the truck went off the embankment on the opposite side of the road.
The road was closed until 10 p.m. as crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer from the scene.
