The gas tax hasn’t gone up for nearly two decades. The price of all the materials to repair the roads have risen by nearly 50% in the same period. As cars have become more efficient, the per gallon tax revenue has declined. If we want to have decent transportation infrastructure, someone’s got to pay for it. The price of fuel isn’t driven by the tax, it’s supply and demand that do. What hurts working people is the fact that their wages have been virtually flat for the last 30 years; while corporate profits and CEO pay have risen off the charts. Let’s talk about the big picture; not one tax!
