Two women are seriously injured after a head-on collision on Route 4 Thursday morning.
A New Hampshire woman is in critical condition after her Toyota Camry collided with a Subaru driven by a Vermont woman, who was responsive but had serious injuries, according to emergency personnel. The accident took place around 9:15 a.m. near the Quechee Mobil gas station.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and one had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life.
As of 10:15 a.m. Route 4 east of Quechee Mobil to I-89 was shut down. Hartford police estimated Route 4 would be closed for at least another hour while crews worked to clean up spilled fluids and tow the damaged vehicles away.
Update 10:53 a.m.: Route 4 is now open.
