READING — The private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family for Lorraine Edith Hobbs, 86, of Claremont, N.H., formerly of Reading, who died June 5 at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.
She was born March 13, 1927 in Newington, Conn., the daughter of Emile and Amelia (Peltier) Valancourt.
After graduating from high school in Hartford, Conn., she went to work for a time.
On Aug. 3, 1957, she married David Hobbs in Rockville, Conn.
In the late 1960s, Mrs. Hobbs began employment as a machinist at Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, retiring in 1985.
She was a former member of Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed dancing, playing cribbage, bowling and singing.
Survivors include two children, Lynda Thurber of Lempster, N.H., and Raymond Hobbs of Norwich; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hobbs was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Darlene Stein; and a brother, Raymond Valancourt.
