According to his wishes, there will be no visiting hours or service for Malcolm “Mickey” Ralph Morgan who passed away peacefully on June 10 after a mercifully brief stroke, but a celebration of his life will be announced at a future date.
He was born June 2, 1927 to Ralph and Frieda Morgan of Woodstock, he attended the Woodstock schools, graduating with the class of 1945.
After a brief tour with the Army, he returned to work for the Woodstock National Bank, a career he spent nearly 50 years in, rising from teller to senior vice President at the independent bank.
In 1951 he married Veronica “Roni” Gramling of Fletcher Hill, and they made their home on High Street raising four children, Diana (now Hamilton), Jerome, Russell, and Dan.
Mickey was active in many community pursuits and charities, was a longtime member of Rotary International, who granted him a prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship, an active member of the Masonic Lodge #31, served on the boards of the Mertens House, Norman Williams Library and many other civic groups. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a long time member of Gray Camp in Barnard.
He is survived by all of his children, and a loving daughter-in-law, Karen.
Mickey was predeceased by his beloved Roni in 2008, and by both of his brothers Hugh and John.
In lieu of flowers, donations to his favorite place, the Woodstock Senior Center, would be greatly appreciated.
