SOUTH ROYALTON – A graveside service was held July 22 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lebanon, N.H. for Rachel Marie Winters, 80, who died July 17 at her home after a long illness. Fr. Raymond Vaillancourt officiated.
She was born the youngest of 14 children, on March 22, 1933 in Montpelier, the daughter of Paul C. and Christybella (Lawrence) Winters.
She grew up and attended schools in Bethel, Barre and the Montpelier area.
Rachel was a hard worker all her life. Raising her six children and holding down different jobs throughout her working career. Rachel worked for a time at Kleen Laundry in Lebanon, N.H., but most of her life she worked as a self employed housekeeper. She also was a home healthcare provider. Rachel will be remembered for always putting the needs of her children and family first. For her incredible strength and courage and for the strong ties she held with all her siblings.
She is survived by three daughters, Anita Bousquet of West Burke, Rita Joyce of Alburg, Tina Osmer of South Royalton; and three sons, Raymond Becker of South Royalton, Gerald Becker of Claremont, N.H., Anthony Winters of South Royalton; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rachel was predeceased by an infant boy who died at birth.
