At the Perkins Academy in South Woodstock a speaker will share original diaries and reminisces of civilians living in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 1863. The event is free and begins July 6 at 3 p.m.

The Barnard Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual flea market and chicken barbecue on July 6 at the Barnard Town Hall. Raffle tickets for kayaks, propane outdoor grills and heating fuel can be purchased from any Barnard firemen. The flea market begins at 10 a.m. and a chicken barbecue follows at 11 a.m.
Silver Lake Day, an annual event put on by Barnard Silver Lake Association, will be held Saturday, July 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the waterfront across from the Barnard General Store. The site is changing this year to honor the Barnard Community Trust’s accomplishment of reviving the store. BCT members will be honored at 2 p.m. After that, regular lake events will take place.
