READING
The parade theme for Reading’s Old Home Days on July 7 is Classic Hollywood. The parade begins at 11 a.m. with a chicken barbecue to follow at the Reading Town Hall. An ox-pull begins at Reading Elementary School at 1 p.m. Raffle tickets for a Ducky Derby will be sold at the Reading Greenhouse and Reading Country Store. Reading Friends and Neighbors will launch 500 ducks off a bridge on July 7 at 2 p.m. and race down the North Branch of the Black River to the Indian stones on Route 106. The grand prize is two nights in luxury suite with a jacuzzi and fireplace with breakfast at the Echo Lake Inn in Plymouth.

HARTLAND
The annual combined Independence Day Church Service will be on Sunday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at the UU Church in the Four Corners.
